This is our first time buying a home and had heard from a friend that they had used this extremely thorough inspector. My friend "warned" me that he is so detailed he will find every single thing that could possibly be an issue with the house. My personality is such that I would rather know all the bad stuff now so that there will be no surprises later, so we went with Mike. His rates are significantly higher than other inspectors, but you get what you pay for. If you are like me and want to know EVERYTHING about the house, Mike is the way to go.
At the end of his inspection he went over his findings with me....perhaps 45 minutes - 1 hour...there was a lot to discuss. We received the emailed full report (80+ pages) with color photos within a couple hours after he left. Really appreciated the color-coding of priorities; categorization by trade skill (electrical, plumbing, roof, etc.), clear and precise writing.

He cost more than other people, but the value is definitely there. He spent 6 hours examining the home and caught all kinds of issues that other inspectors wouldn't even know were a potential problem. He takes phone calls later, and makes an effort to inform you to the best of his knowledge. He also took the time to explain to us the limitations of a home inspection and what further steps we could take to be more thorough ourselves.
